A lifeline to a lifeboat

Sunday 6 February 2011

The James & Mary Walker

Open one of the barn doors at Wester Kellie and instead of cattle or straw you will find a lifeboat. The James & Mary Walker was the third in a long line of lifeboats at the RNLI station at Anstruther and was commissioned in1904. Her service lasted until 1933 and in her 15 launches she saved 46 lives.

Now Balcaskie is proud to be able to offer a volunteer team of restorers a home for this distinguished vessel while she is given a new lease of life.
