East Neuk Community Awards Fund

Sunday 9 December 2012

Foundation Scotland

Traditional estates are social enterprises; they play a big role as part of their community, providing employment - direct & indirect -, amenity land, social housing, and continuity as well as other resources. Between the East Neuk Estates, we provide village playing fields, Christmas trees to local churches, towns and villages, social housing, community woodland, education opportunities with RHET and many, many other contributions. We recognise that many other members of our community do as least as much.

In 2010 members of the East Neuk Estates group commissioned the Scottish Community Foundation to undertake a Community Profile study for the East Neuk. The purpose of this study was to give the Estates an evidence-led basis on which to develop their relationship with the communities of which they are a part.

The East Neuk Community Awards Fund was set up on the back of this work.  The Fund, managed by the Scottish Community Foundation, is there to offer financial support - often as part of a broader participation - to projects within our Communities.  To date, the fund has contributed to projects including a school playground, a village hall, village tennis courts, awards for non-profit innovators and other community projects.
